Myofascial Release

Fascia is a thin, tough, elastic type of connective tissue that wraps most structures within the human body, including muscle. Fascia supports and protects these structures. These soft tissues can become restricted due to overuse, trauma, infectious agents, or inactivity, often resulting in pain, muscle tension, and diminished blood flow.

I specialize in myofascial release, relieving long held pain and “stuck” muscles. In fact, it’s the type of therapy I do best and also the one that provides results for my clients.

Myofascial Release was coined in the ’60s by Robert Ward, an osteopath who studied with Ida Rolf, the originator of Rolfing. Often referred to as “myofascial therapy” or “myofascial trigger point therapy,” the phrase is used for different manual therapy techniques, including soft tissue manipulation such as connective tissue massage, soft tissue mobilization, and strain-counterstrain techniques.
